I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, supervisor, trainer and critical incident responder with over 35 years of experience. Alongside my general practice I am a bariatric psychological weight issues and trauma specialist, trained to offer psychotherapeutic support to those wishing to re-focus their relationship with food and find more helpful and manageable ways forward. Issues may include obesity, binge eating, body image, weight management and pre and post bariatric surgery psychological support.

I bring a warm, empathic but clear-thinking approach to the working relationship thereby helping you to gain deeper insights and resolve difficulties relating to both the past and the present. Talking to a trained psychotherapist in a safe, confidential setting is a way of understanding your life and through this to start to take responsibility for making different choices. My own experience and struggles suffering with an eating disorder over many years, helps me to understand the challenges as well as being able to offer practical support from a place of real understanding and empathy.

My approach is to offer an integrated approach, tailored to each person’s needs. This may include psychoanalysis, CBT, lifeline work, planning and structure to support day to day management, mindfulness and relaxation techniques and psycho education. I can also offer targeted tools for cravings and consequences with BrainSpotting which a unique treatment for processing  trauma and facilitates identifying new ways of breaking unhelpful habits and compulsions. These activities can enable positive progress and expansion into the life you want to live.
